Hello all, and welcome to pretty green girl!
A little about me, and why I decided to start this site. My name is Janet, I’m 30, and I live in San Francisco, one of the best places on Earth. I moved back to the Bay Area after living in Southern California for 8 years, and have really become passionate about sustainable living, particularly local and organic food, humanely treated meat, natural foods and products, and reducing waste, through things like composting, recycling and simply buying less. While I always cared about the environment to some extent, there was so much I didn’t know – not because I didn’t care, but simply because I didn’t think to know. I never really thought about where my food came from (berries are expensive in the winter for a reason!), how animals are raised, or buying “green” products. When I first moved back, I would call my sister every time I was at the store to remind me if I should buy “cage free” or “free range” eggs. I’ve learned a lot over the past few years, but there is still so much out there. I’m hoping this site can be a resource for those (including me!) who are looking for more information on sustainable and healthy living, both personally and on a larger, environmental scale. Basically, my philosophy is that if you make it easy, fun and cute to be green, more people will do it. I strive to talk about green issues in a fun, non-pushy, and non-judgmental way. Love the new blog. Here’s my big question. When it comes to beauty products I try to avoid anything that’s tested on animals, that has parabens, and that has sulfates ( wow it drys my hair out), what else should I avoid?

Hi Janet, found your blog today looks amazing! I value your honesty and environmental interests! I feel guilty every time I put something in the trash, and I’m not Jewish, there is hope when I see people your age becoming conscious. Love the food articles they are entertaining as well as good!
Currently I’m in the blog smog but hope to continue to watch your blog and learn! I will also watch some more Lynda.com, that seems to be the best way to learn. Thanks for your tips!
Hiya Janet. Discovered your blog via Tina …. from C&C! It does take talent (+time) to do these blogs. Do not think I could ever do and on-line talk show at my age ~ ~ ~ lol! Thanks for keeping us (those who care to know) informed re new ideas + a better way for us to live our lives. I love and purchase many organic products. Have been for years. Hopefully, they make a difference somehow. Looking forward to your reads!
